This paper presents a set of useful suggestions to faculty who are
interested in screencasting as a tool to support their blended learning
lessons. Although these best practices were derived from a research with
undergraduate health students, they also reflect the literature's
review of other areas, so they are valid for other contexts besides the
health area. A screencast is a digital recording of computer screen
output, including mouse movements and audio narration. Thus, screencasts
are very well suited to complement traditional face-to-face classes,
both expositive and demonstrative, even if they are not related with
software application demonstrations or computer related tasks. To guide a
professor in the process of making and distributing screencasts to
his/her students, this paper lists and thoroughly explains all the
necessary steps.
